Temas actuales de optometría

This book aims to bring together the new advances and knowledge the fields where optometrists research and contribute their professional services to society. The chapters describe research results obtained by final year students of the Degree in Optics and Optometry, Master’s Degree in Advanced Optometry and Vision Sciences, Doctorate, and also by recent graduates, often under the direction of a senior researcher. Some of them have been carried out in the university environment and others in hospitals or medical centres, with the support and collaboration of the ophthalmologists and optometrists in the staff. All this shows the interest of optometrist in scientific research and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, with the common goal of improving the visual health of society.

Per millorar la salut visual de la població i, en concret, l’atenció als usuaris dels serveis d’Òptica i Optometria, és fonamental integrar els estudis més avançats en la pràctica diària dels professionals i fomentar la col·laboració multidisciplinària en la investigació. Amb la fianlitat de contribuir a aquest objectiu, s’apleguen ací un conjunt de textos que difonen nous coneixements en aquest àmbit sanitari. Les investigacions han estat desenvolupades per estudiants d’últim curs del Grau en Òptica i Optometria, del Màster en Optometria Avançada i Ciències de la Visió i de doctorat, però també per titulats recents, sovint sota la direcció d’investigadors sènior. Algunes s’han dut a terme en l’àmbit universitari i d’altres en hospitals o centres mèdics, amb el suport i la col·laboració d’oftalmòlegs i optometristes que hi treballen, per tal de potenciar les sinergies i ampliar la xarxa de la comunitat científica.
